Heartburn

Hi! I am new on here! I have been reading the posts on here for about a week, and you people all seem so nice and helpful! I have learned a lot!I have had IBS about 15 years. (The "D" kind!) Probably started around the time my first daughter was born. I am 36 now. I haven't had too much problem in the past with heartburn...just now and then and easily remedied with a pepto or something. I have had it nearly everyday, however, since the middle of December! I never wake up with it....it usually comes on in the late morning or early afternoon, and lasts until evening. YUCKY!!! Last week I went to my doctor and she gave me a prescription for Zantac. Unfortunately, it isn't doing much. I have to call her in 6 days and let her know. Now I am worried. Why isn't it working? What else could it be? I know it can be a symptom of IBS, but why isn't the medicine taking it away?? Please let me know if you have any ideas of what is going on. In the meantime, I am really glad to be a part of this "group", (although I would be REALLy glad to have never, ever even heard of IBS!!!!!!!!!) ~Laurie
