well it's almost 4 in the morning and here i sit in major pain. right under my left rib feels like someone has stuck a torch and it's burning my insides. i've passed a lot of gas but still have tremendous. sat on the toliet for about half an hour and practically nothing. the pain is tremendous. took 1/2 of vicodin but will have to take another. i feel like somone is ripping out my insides (as KMottus says). it's a burning terrible horrible pain that sort of goes to the right directly under my ribs. please, please, can anybody suggest anything. i'm going to dr. ritter at baylor on the 24th and i pray that he can do something. i know you've all heard this a thousand times from me, but i still don't think this is ibs. i've had ibs all my life and it's always been below the navel never this gut wrenching pain under the ribs. i sound like an absolute nut but i can't help it. yes, i'm focused on something other than ibs but cripes with this pain so disabling who wouldn't?

I understand this. i dont really believe in IBS either. I think our symptoms are more likely to be caise by bugs and bacteria and stress etc etc. Just that the Drs dont know how you treat us.have you had all the usual tests? like endiscopy and colonoscopy etc?

you know i'm a 53 year grown woman and here i sitting just squalling my eyes out, curled up in a ball. geezz. ( keep hitting the escape key, but i'm still here!!!) tests, oh yeah, all of them and i mean all -- 4 ct scans, 1mri, 1 mrcp, tons of blood work, fat fecal, fat blood, 1 colonscopy, 3 endoscopies, and been tested for everything from aids to lupus, you name it. they have an x-ray room with my name it for toliet trolls! this pain must be getting to me -- my humour is making even me sick. i just pressed on my stomach and i hurt all the way to my hip bones, especially lower right now. geez, everything hurts really bad. oh yeah, the diahhrea started about 4 or so. great, now what.....

WoW! You sound like me right before i wound up in the hospital for 12 days recently. I'm sorry about what you are going through. Do you have a good doctor? I hope so, one that listens to you. I'd call him. IBS can be every bit as severe as "something else." Are you taking Levbid or levsin? I am on both of these and they are helping to give me my life back. I take one Levbid in the morning and one in the evening. The levsin I take after each meal and before bed. I also take phayzyme after each meal and before bed. I still have spasm pain attacks once or twice a day, but the situaltion is much more under control than it was. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Genny. Here's why I was in the hospital. Four weeks ago, I was having severe abdominal pain at work that was unrelenting. I thought it was my Crohn's disease attacking (again). I left work early, and my physician put me right into the hospital.They did all knids of tests, but it turned out that my Crohn's was inactive. We didn't know what the pain was being caused by. In a final act of desparation, my GI specialist consulted a surgeon to do an exploratory laproscopy surgery. When he went in, he found several adhesions (scar tissue from Crohn's inflammation) which he removed and he stated that I had so many air pockets trapped in my intestines, more than he had ever seen before. So, I came out of there with a diagnosis of spastic colon on top of the Crohn's. Now, I have both spastic colon and Crohn's. That's why I was in the hospital. I hope you get to the bottom of things. Feel better soon.

I also get the thing where you push onthe right side of your belly and the pain is awful and you also feel pain inthe left side clear up to the should almost!! Iam geting cancerphobia with this thing!! No one can have pain like this and just have IBS D!! YEs, had all the tests!

i did a separate post on this but since ya'll posted maybe you'll read this and reply. my diahhrea started at 4 this morning. bits and pieces and then changed to floating oil, foamy stuff, and finally ended up with (get this) snotty stuff. i swear it looked like clumps of yucky stuff that came out of my nose when i had a bad sinus infection. has anybody had that? and here's the grossest part (forgive me ya'll). when i do go poop, there's white like fuzzy stuff on it. i do the wierdest stuff. surely somebody will read this and recognize ah, the, well, oh, the symptoms. yes, let's describe it that way. symptoms.
