Jennifer...the good news? Hemmy's are not dangerous. Bad news? They can last a long, long time. Months sometimes. Your primary care doctor can prescribe 2.5% hydrocortisone cream, which is stronger than what you get over the counter. My doctor did this for me and it's the only thing that helped mine clear up. Also, I take 4 metamucil pills in the am and 4 more in the PM. This helps my IBS and makes it so I don't have to strain as much. The 8 pills/day I take is what works for me. Everybody's different, so it may be more or less for you.
