Hi I am Weezy. I have had IBS since the age of 25. I have lost jobs and tried to start school and had to stop that too. The diarrhea is so extreme that I have missed special occasions. I was wondering if any has tried hypnosis or any other treatment. Been on medicine for ever. My symptoms are gas, diarrhea, heartburn, cramps, aches and pains. If that is not enough I have depression and fibromyalgia. I live in Illinois. If anyone knows of a Doctor in this area.

Hypnosis seems to work pretty well for a good percentage of IBS.http://www.ibshypnosis.com/IBSclinicians.html has a list of people trained to do hypnosis for IBS, there are also in home CD's you can get.We have a CBT and hypnosis forum if you want to read more about it.

Hi Weezy and welcome - You can find some info on hypnotherapy for IBS in the links below - I did the home program which helped my very severe IBS. I live in Illinois as well. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them. Hypnotherapy can also ease the pain of fibromyalgia and perhaps lift some of the depression that is secondary to having the IBS - take care.
