Not been around her for quite a while having been told that I wasn't suffering from IBS, but alas, all the treatment for the supposed ulcer didn't work and now they are definately sure I have IBS.I was on a course of antacids which helped a lot with the weird stirring feelings in my stomach, but alas not with the excessive flatulence. So I am now on Colpermin tablets but its a bit early to tell if they are working, although I do now let off a lovely minty fart which is interesting, although I can't blame the dog anymore
Anyone else had much experience of these and how long they take to work?I seem to have a decent reduction in gas during the day but at night before I go to bed it seems to get pretty bad.Cheers

sorry the ulcer treatment didn't work and i hope you find a way of treating this soon.why not get hold of some of those minty dog treats - meant to clean their breath - then you can 'prove' it's him!!!!

So the dog feels better now that he's not getting the blame, huh?
I hope you notice an improvement soon. It's no fun, is it?Hey, if it's working well during the day but not at night so much you might want to keep a food journal and see if that helps.

Well I'll leave a few mints wrappers next to his little bed and draw everyones attention to it ;DI really haven't noticed any food triggers, although I guess I could give it a go. The only consistent meal I have each day is my breakfast but I doubt that would start affecting me around midnight

Cheers mate, I'll have a look.My IBS is incredibly mild, I have no real problem with my bowel movements and my only problem is weird stirring in my stomach and excess flatulence.Although I need to try something as the stirring stomach is keeping me awake at night. I feel absolutely fine all through the day as well, just at night it starts

quote:Originally posted by betterthroughscience:Have you read the latest book on IBS - The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Solution by Dr. Wangen. It is very impressive. You can see a bunch of his stuff at his website http://www.IBSTreatmentCenter.com. He really helped my wife. She is IBS free now!
Wow, just had a read at that sight, and I noticed something rater interesting. I always presumed because I had bowel movements once a day that I didn't have anything wrong with them, but after reading that, it seems I may also have constipation because they are not all that well formed.. Bugger, thats a real eye opener, cheers for that, guess I'll have to try a laxative as well and see if it helps

Hi,I have tried Colpermin before, however didn't find that it did a thing. I started taking it every now and again, but then went onto take it 3 times a day. The main reason for me taking it was due to uncomfortable (but rarely painful) churning and very embarassing noises that my gut would make.I have now been given some tablets called Ranitil to try. Hope the Colpermin works for you. I think that different things suit different people, so fingers crossed!

Hey Chris_E,I have been taking the Ranitil for about 3 weeks now and if i'm honest, I haven't noticed much, if any improvement. (Sorry, not a particularly positive response). This wek at work I have had to attend a lot of meetings and training sessions and my anxiety levels have been through the roof. If I only panicked when my stomach did make a noise, it would be more understandable, however, I get so anxious incase it makes noises. It's crazy and I know that it's irrational, but I still don't sem to be able to calm myself down. Do you get like this?

Nope, mines doesn't seem to be affected by stress at all actually. At the moment I have the most stress free life you can imagine and it still happens, just as it did when I was pretty busy. The noises are annoying but they don't bother me that much, I'd be happy it noises were my only problem to be honest
