Hi JV, My first abd. discomfort happened after eating spaghetti when I was a child, but I had no bowel problems then. My constipation problem and more severe cramping abd. pain happened while on birth control pills in my 20's. It later resolved with increase in fiber in my diet, and possibly by going off the pill. In my 40's I was on antibiotics for over a year for adult-oncet acne. I then began having vag, bladder, and finally bowel-frequent soft stooling problems. No GI doc could figure it out. Then a couple of years ago, I went to an allergist. He diagnosed a citric acid allergy (probably why spaghetti sauce bothered me), and candida. He put me on Diflucan and a low sugar diet, and within a few months my frequent soft-stooling dumping cycle resolved, as well as the proctalgia pain I was having with it. My bloating discomfort/gas decreased too. That part is starting to come back now, however. [This message has been edited by moldie (edited 04-30-2000).]
