Hi, I am new to the site. I've been doing some reading around here lately and thought I'd join. I'll breifly share my story. I am a 22 year old female. I have suffered from IBS-C for years now... ever since I was a child. In high school, things began to get worse. By sophomore year of college things were awful. I could go 2 weeks without having a BM. I was always uncomfortable and severley bloated. All the symptoms and feelings other members on this site have described. You name the drug, I've been on it and it doesn't help. Last December, I went to see a specialist... started undergoing pelvic floor rehabilitation for 6 weeks. It helped, but didn't make it "all better." Howeve, as of Tuesday, things have taken a major turn. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis as well as IBS-C (I did not know that was even possible.) So my main reason for joining is to hopefully gather some support/insight (because I'm feeling like I've received a life sentence with this new diagnosis) and share whatever knowledge I can with others in hopes that it might help them.

Unfortunately having one disease doesn't stop you from developing something else. There are some people with IBS and IBD diagnosis as the inflammation from IBD can damage the nerves in the gut and lead to IBS (so you still have symptoms even when the IBD like UC is in remission). We have a few people on the IBD forums with both things so you aren't alone, even if that isn't the most common thing. Scroll down past all the IBS sections and you can find the IBD part of the board.

Hello there, I am new too, and you have the multiple problems also, i dont have any other bowel problems as you mentioned, but i suffer from chronic periods, and allergies asthma and a sensitive stomach, but thats my fault as i suffered from post natal depression after my babies, and lets say, i did something that might have killed me, and has made my stomach worse, after beating depression and having everything but the period pains under control, i know it feels like one blow after the other. I take herbal remedies for the pain, but i would only recomend you consult with your doctor before trying anything nre, dont want to cause trouble on my first reply! so a warm welcome from me to you. And i hope someday your symptoms ease off a little bit. x
