Since I've had this gosh-darn-awful IBS-D for the past 5 years, I've stopped hosting holdiay parties. This year I thought, "Why not...the worst that can happen probably won't and anyway I'll be at home."So my dh and I will be entertaining this Saturday night with 12 guests. Casual attire and lots of appetizers/finger-foods.Wish me luck! I know if I can get through this party, it'll be a boost to my confidence.

Hi Wish, I haven't entertained for a year because of this nasty IBS and my husband's retail schedule (I can't do it all by myself). That's excellent that you've gone ahead and planned a party. Good luck, it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Jackie

I find that I'm more relaxed hosting parties at home than going to someone elses place. I always have the option to disappear upstairs for a few moments if necessary, rather than worry about being in someone's bathroom for too long while others are waiting to use it. I always take Immodium as a precaution, and do fine. Best of luck, relax-you'll be in your own comfort zone.

You'll be fine. It'll be convenient since your in your own home. Hopefully you have a little bathroom away from everyone in case an attack happens. I bet you'll be too busy to even worry about your IBS though. Have a great time - and good luck!------------------Rebecca"Knowledge is Power"

It's me again! Thanks for all you encouragement and reassurances! I've already taken an Imodium tablet today to stave off (hopefully) any bad IBS vibs. Our people count is now up to 18 (from 12) so this party is generating lots of interest and friends looking for good holiday entertainment.I'm confident this "event" will be smooth as silk with no upsets for me.
I'll report back after it's over.

Well Wisher,Good for you!!! Way to go! It's so important to get our lives "back to normal" as much as possible & not let the IBS take over. Congratulations on doing this!

Good Luck!!!!!!!It will be great. I used to host elaborate parties every weekend because I had an anxiety about going out. For a year and a half it was tiring but at least I brought the fun to me!!
