A stone in body weight is 14 pounds (6.35 kilograms) but for measuring commodities it varies e.g.Fish or meat = 8 lbsChesse = 16 lbsIt has been a long time since I was in public school and I had to do these conversions. Hope this helps and good luck to all of you who are writing exams.

Log on MSN if you can - i never see you on there!!

hi Vicky, they are putting me in a different exam room, with the people who are dyslexic and so on, so that I can get up and walk around or go to the toilet and return to the exam if I need to, or stop and have a drink and so on.the tutors have been great, I've been at uni for 4 years and they have only just found out about how ill i was, and that was because I ended up in hospital for a while, I regret not telling them earlier!! but It is really obvious how ill i am now, my tummy is so big! the specalist says its the worst he's seen! the bloating is squashing my liver, which is worrying. You should make sure the uni make some arrangements for you, cos I haven't in the past and have had to leave exams to go to the toilet have not been allowed back in! at least now that I can. just knowing that I can is a great help!HugzSarah x

hi sarah, i should get another letter to send them. my tutor though i'd have my own room, but even if there are a few ppl in there, then i dont mind. as long as i can get up walk around outisde, bend over if my tummy hurts, go to the loo etc. did you get extra time for the exams? thats what the woman thought i wanted, but i said i didnt have a learning disability and told her my tutor said id be able to sit in a seperate room. the woman was very fussy etc.

I have some exta time, because of the pain, and as I have other medical issues around it, such as my liver and fainting fits and concentration issues becuase of it things.the hospital wrote me some letters and explained to uni how it affects me in exams, maybe that what you need to do as this woman obviously doesn't really understand.although my tutor was great and could tell how ill i was and told the people who arrange the exams that they would have to sort something out for me. maybe one of your tutors could hve a word?theres normally a few people how are ill, who all go in a room together, for example a friend fo mine has a bad foot and need to get up and move around. there should be others at you uni in a similar situation that you could sit with, even if you dont fit the criteria for extra time.Best of luck xx

I also lost a lot of weight, dropping from 125 Ibs. to 101, mostly because of my many food sensitivities. During a severe relapse, I normally can only stand 7-Up and very small portions of soft-cooked white rice; that's when my weight really plummets! During periods of stability and following my very strict diet (almost no fat, no gluten, no coarse fibre, nothing acidic, etc.) my weight normalizes because I binge the on foods I *can* tolerate, in my case, bananas. So to those of you who are underweight: have lots of the foods you are able to eat; this will help you during your next flare-up! Boost and Ensure, if you can tolerate them, provide extra calories, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. -To Shadowz: Change doctors if you can! I also had an uncaring, rather ignorant doctor when I was first diagnosed with IBS. Switching to a new doctor who was more knowledgeable and concerned did wonders for me, at least on an emotional level.

I am really lucky in that my Doctor has IBS. WHen I first went in he told me then that he suspected IBS but wanted to rule out other things/So we did all the test. Everything came back fine and at that point he said. "Sorry to tell you that you have IBS. Welcome to the club." Like he said, there is no cure and no proven treatment. I had already lost some weight after my husband passed away. But am now down 50lbs in almost 3 years. I will say that I am actually eating much healthier now. I do a high fiber diet with little fat. I mostly grill or bake, I also steam brown rice and most vegetables. I also juice. Am a firm believer it that. Lynda

Hi, I have IBS-C-slow mo. type. I am 5.5and1/2 and lost weight from 120 or 115 pounds to 100 pounds--stayed there for three years until severe episodes, now 92 pounds. Like Ezri, the nutritionist says when you can't eat anything, drink Ensure or something like it (even though I am against all that sugar and carbs!). The point, she says, is to avoid malnutrition. And I certainly don't want my hair to fall out or my organs to stop working. Yes, People make comments about my weight and many doctors say I am underweight. I make sure everything going into my mouth has nutrition, just about. I get nervous about it alot, more because I don't trust myself, when in reality, there are lots over undernourished, overweight people too. I think people feel they can say stuff to you if you are thin. It makes me mad--I don't comment about their weight. Now I just tell them about IBS. Any other suggestions on what to say back to people who comment about your weight and say they are very concerned? I eat 5 times a day, small volumes, and can only tolerate food liquids at night. All fruits and veggies need to be cooked or already soft for me. I am so glad I am not alone in having lost alot of weight! Meesh
