I'm glad to hear that you were able to find someone to accept your exam. How nice of them to let you go to the bathroom! (not!)It sounds like you are still in high school.Unfortunately, the world is full of small-minded shmucks like those you dealt with. There will be plenty more in the future, so the best you can do is prepare yourself for going over their heads.
How much more embarassing can this get??
OK today i am at my limit, one mroe person gets on my nerves I am going to snap. I was writing an exam today in a gym at school, with give or take 400 people. ANyway I am going about my own business when i get he deadiest of pains in my left side..a sure sign to get outta there quick. ANyway I ask one of the terachers "on guard" if I can leave for a moment, its an emeergency. Their reply " I'm sorry but this is a formal examination, you may not leave the gym if you are not done the exam." Oh man I was pissed, I said please just let me talk to so and so she understands, but "no, finish your exam and you can go".So...I left I said screw it. I got to the abthroom and then went back to gym to try to reason with them, telling them I am sick. Like oh ya I just studied in the bathroom, give me a break!!!!After making an idiot of myself and everyone was looking at me I got ahold of my one teahcer who understands and she took my exam and let me do it in her room. She said she'd pull strings and get it marked. There is one person who understands finally!! I am so pissed, I hate dumb "peasants" who don't understand anything past the end of their noses. GRRRRR lol I am mad as you can see, just thoguht I'd share my experience.Night people, I have to sleep and get ready for my nexy exam tomorrow morn..8(Chow~

Kathrine -Really quick cause I have to get to class to... next time you find yourself in a situation like this, remember to have a notification of disability ready to give them BEFORE the test. If they won't let you go the bathroom, ask them if they are discriminating against you because you have a disability?I know, we don't like to tell anyone if we don't have to, but it will save you some fights.This semester, I decided to notify my instructors at the university, and I haven't had those strange looks I used to get if I have to get up and leave during an exam. They are aware of the disability and the laws protecting disabled people. Additionally, they must make a reasonable accomodation for you. Letting you go to the restroom would seem reasonable, given the circumstances.I know too, we don't like to think of ourselves as being disabled, but according the law, we are.Take care.[This message has been edited by Umleila (edited 02-02-99).]

Katherine,I'm sorry you had to deal with such idiots. A lot of people don't understand what we all have to go through, like they were never sick with the stomach flu or anything. At least you have at least one teacher that is understanding and was willing to go out on the ledge for you. As far as the other students, who cares what they think your friends will understand.Take care and keep your chin up!Julia
I worked with a testing organization some years ago and there were always proctors in the room who could escort you to the lavatory if the need arose, holding your paper until your return. If your school doesn't have this, then perhaps you might "suggest" strongly that it be arranged in the future, should the need arise. Good luck.
I have never heard of proctors during exams, I should mention it to my guidance councellor or something.Yes Dogwood I am stillll in highschool....blahhhh its ok, but not with dumb teachers (no offence to any teachers on here, I am sure you are much mroe understanding..) My mother wrote I have a bowel condition or something on my student health form. I never ever thought of it as a disability though, kind of scarey to think of it as that.Thanks for listening to my story guys, I don't really tell my friends about this kind of stuff.
