Hello everyone. I'm a long time lurker but first time poster. Two years ago I took part int he Lotronex studies up here in Canada. It worked for me but they did not have compassionate release of the drug so I suddenly found myself off the drug after 4 months and then as you know Lotronex was taken off the American market.I have now been contacted to take part in the Cilansetron phase 111 study. It is looking very promising and without some of the side effects of Lotronex. My question is should a go for it and endure the poking and proding yet again? I kind of think if I'm going to find a cure for myself and others that I should. Also they seem to have a harder time finding suitable male sufferers.regards,Nauticus

If you feel comfortable with it, then go for it. In the eand, its your personal decision. I am a male living in Canada, but am probably too young for the study. Let's all pray that this is finally a cure!

I would go for it! Are they letting former Lotronex users take part in the study? Right before they stopped studies altogether in the US, not too long after Lotronex was recalled, I was to be a guinea pig, but then they decided they didn't want former Lotronex users. Didn't want any Lotronex side effects to show up later and taint their results, I guess.Good luck! If you do this, I hope you get the real drug!! That is my one worry if I was to get the chance again...you could drop out of the study if it wasn't doing anything for you, but there is a "see you at your worst" symptom logging time when you can't take anything for your gut. And of course no Immodium the whole time, I think. I try not to take Immodium unless I really need to, but there are times when it's really necessary and would be a HUGE impediment to one's life or career to not take it. With me, the initial attack is one thing, but if my system is really angry, the D will continue without relief for a while unless I do take the Immodium. Sometimes just a tiny quantiy, but it's urgent anyhow.
