I have become more and more interested in Human Probiotic Infusion otherwise known as Fecal Transplantation or Bacteriotherapy. I would also be very interested in hearing if anyone knows of any doctors in Europe who are involved in this type of therapy please.

This does sound very interesting. The idea is that transplantation with a sample of naturally occuring gut flora (i.e. a healthy relative's stool!!) is superior to probiotics at restoring normal gut flora. As many of you will know there is more and more evidence emerging that the gut flora is extremely important in digestive function, and that many cases of IBS may well be caused by an altered gut flora - i.e. the proportions of "good" and "bad" bacteria may be wrong..or they may be overgrowth of a specific bad bacteria or other pathogen.See also here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fecal_bacteriotherapyand here - http://www.cdd.com.au/

Hi idkwia (and everyone else!)I've just been Googling HPI, and came across this post, so I thought I'd join the forum and respond.I'm currently a patient of Prof Borody's, undergoing HPI. One of the Centre for Digestive Diseases' newsletters gave me the impression that the Centre is the only place where HPI is currently conducted, but that medical professionals in the US have recently been contacting Prof Borody for tips on setting up this practice. Sorry, I haven't heard anything about Europe.You are more than welcome to read about my experiences at JFo's Bog BlogHope this is of some help!
