Hi,I wanted to let you know that you are not alone! I am 23 and was getting sick after eating all the time and just graduated from college. I slowly became sick in college and picked up all the symptoms my sister had. Originally, I went to the bathroom only on Friday mornings and that was not by choice. I would have to run there and barely make it. I worked in a preschool and was thankful that after lunch we had nap time so the kids could not smell the gas. I had gas so bad that it would hurt and smell like someone died or I would be so constipated I could not move. I first tried GasX which worked, but I would throw up a little in my mouth because I was so backed up and had no idea what to do. At one point I thought it was normal. I would drink at night like a fish to make the pain go away. My senior year of college was a nightmare. I spent more time in the bathroom that a plumber. I would be so constipated and look pregnant and then look sickly thin. For Fourth of July I went to a BBQ and people asked me if I was ok because I kept going to the bathroom. My pants would not fit, I would pass gas loudly at school where I was interning in a fourth grade class, and I just wanted the pain to stop.My older sister saved my life. She developed the same symptoms in her twenties and is six years older than me. I called her crying from school and she told me I could not eat gluten, high fructose corn syrup, potatoes, chocolate, (certain coffee has gluten), and certain fruits. I hated it! I kept thinking she had to be wrong. I kept saying I just want to be normal and eat anything I want until graduation. But as soon as I had bread I would have gas and no control over my bowel movements. It takes five days to get something I shouldn't have out of my system. That’s five days of pain. And all I eat is rice and bland things. When I graduated I went to doctors and wasted money on tests only to come up blank. I was told it may be cancer but some uncaring doctor. I think the hardest part for me is to accept that doctors cannot give us a pill to fix it and if we eat something we can’t have, it takes at least 5 days of gas, pain, and embarrassment before it’s over. Every morning I wake up I have to have Prune Juice or I have constipation and am in pain. I can’t eat at fast food. I can only have organic coffee and tea. I make homemade bagel every week.Currently, I am healthy but that can all change if I choose to eat something I know I cannot have. Some of my friends were and are unsupportive. I think that hurts the most. I hate going out to eat sometimes and will also vote for sushi, because people can’t tell that I can’t eat certain things. OMG and dating when sick sucks!Does this help? I think you should go on the all rice diet with butter or gluten free soy sauce and then slowly add things into your diet. As they make you sick you will see what doesn't work.hugs,J
