I am here to share my experience with ibs with all of you. This board has helped me out a lot and I want to return the favor. First let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a 21 year old male college student attending college in Alabama. I am 6 foot 2 and weigh about 220 pounds and have lived in Tennessee my entire life. Now on to ibs, the worst thing I've ever encountered in my entire life. Up until now I would've gladly traded ibs for cancer. But I've found my "cure". I'll tell more about that later. I started having IBS-D symptoms when I was a senior in high school, age 17. It wasn't terrible at first. I could eat lunch at school and go the rest of the day without an attack, but would have diarrhea as soon as I got home.IBS symptoms remained mild for the next couple of years. All I needed to do then was watch what I ate, which especially meant no fast food. Then around the age of 19 or 20 my IBS-D got real bad. I couldn't eat or drink anything without having diarrhea afterwards. I lost a lot of weight during this time. What I felt was worse than the diarrhea was the flatulence and gut rumblings. It felt like people were playing tug of war with my intestines. I could not concentrate on my school work. The flatulence was terribly embarrassing. I was in a college classroom most of the days thru the week. So, I obviously could not fart in class. What if someone would hear it or even smell it (sorry to sound a little vulgar, but I am very serious). The gas was of the type that if I did not fart my colon would start spasming big time and my colon, intestine, or something would make a noise inside my stomach that everyone around me could here. Sometimes people would look at me and say "Man, you're hungry", and one time a boy behind me made stomach growling sounds for the entire lecture. I didn't know whether to leave in tears or punch the guy's lights out. The worse part is that many times these sounds sounded just like farts except they coming from within(if that makes any sense). Finally I went to a gastro doctor. The same one my dad went to for his Crohn's disease. He wanted me to have a colonoscopy to rule out bad things. I checked out fine so he said I had a spastic colon and to take the antispasmodics that he gave me. The doctor seemed to act like this condition is no big deal and didn't really want to deal with me anymore. Why are doctor's so harsh to ibs patients? It's like they say suck it up, you're fine. Anyways, back to my story. The antispasmodics worked at first. After 2 weeks I was just as bad as ever. Next he gave me a stronger antispasmodic and a pill for my nerves. Neither helped and the nerve pill just knocked me out! I decided to give up on his methods. Tried gas-x, what a waste of money. Tried Metamucil, works pretty good. I thought I had found my cure at first, but it didn't last. But I did find that metamucil always did help enough to warrant taking it. What I thought would be my last endeavor, probiotics helped quite a bit. I was impressed. I took 3 pills of probiotica and 3 pills of chewable acidolphilus a day. This helped a lot, but not enough. The fall semester at school was starting soon and I knew that I still had major flatulence problems and diarrhea. This would only be heightened when my nerves kicked in being surrounded by young college students, some of which would be attractive females, in a quiet classroom. So thanks to this board and some searching on the net I found my lifesaver, IBSACOL!IBSACOL is the greatest product ever released. I don't know what I would do if it were ever discontinued. I've been taking it for 3 and a half weeks and feel like a new man. I was very skeptical at first. I mean the testimonials on their website looked a little fake to me and the company was in New Zealand which I thought was a little strange. Even the bottle it comes in looks a little low-class(it's not very flashy). After 5 days of taking it there was no change. But on the 6th day I was perfectly fine. I have no problems whatsoever. I take 12 pills a day which are very easy to swallow and that's it (well I also take calcium and vitamin D supplements, but that's because I gave up milk). I love this product. My nerves are back to normal sense I don't have to worry about any noises my digestive system makes during class. I have even been going to eat lunch everyday with my peers at fast food places. I am even occasionally drinking diet cokes which I would have never done a few weeks ago. I can eat and do anything now as long as I take my pills. Now I only have one bowel movement a day. Every morning before school I use the bathroom and that's it all day long. So please I am writing this for you out their suffering like I was, try this remedy. Go to www.ibsacol.com . It may be a little bit pricey, but it was worth getting my life back!THANK YOU IBSACOL!!!!!!!!!
