I've just recently started taking caltrate myself and I'm taking just one a day with dinner (it's the only real meal I eat). I've only been taking it for about a week and so far I haven't had any D attacks, but I've been really good about watching what I'm eatting. It depends on how bad your D is. If it's bad you may want to start with 1/2 pill 3x a day at meal times. I'm sure everyone can tell you different amounts they take.....you just have to find out the right amount for you by starting out with a smaller dose and work it up til you get it right. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

Zookeeper,Kimmie gave you some good info.If diarrhea is the problem for you and often start with 1/2 tablet with each meal at least 3 times a day. If you do not eat 3 meals a day then spread out the 1/2 tablets doses throughout the day. The only thing you may experience is some indigestion and with 1/2 tablet it may no happen. If this amount is not enough to control the diarrhea for you then after a few days up the dose to 1 tablet with each meal. You can email me if you have more questions and I will help you through it.Linda

Everyone is different, and I imagine you'll have to experiment to find out what works for me. I take one whole tablet a day, right after lunch, with a glass of water. So far it has been doing the trick for me. Good luck!
