Some of you newbies don't know me. But to all the others who have been here for a while; I am back.I had a total hysterectomy on Aug. 27th. Taking the hormone replacement; seems to be okay. Not sure of anything yet - I do know that my hormones are all goofy right now. My meds will have to be adjusted. The surgery is healing just fine; I am now itching and I cannot scratch! Go figure! LOL!!!!!The surgery was on Friday morning and I was discharged on Monday morning, the 30th. I was feeling very badly. Came home, fever jacked up to 102 degrees; coughing up green junk; and wound up in ER that evening. PNEUMONIA was the diagnosis. I JUST got out yesterday afternoon on Sunday, Sept. 5th. They found the right combo of meds to get me better; but it was tough due to my long list of antibiotics that I am not supposed to have.Needless to say, I have had my share of D but I am also still troubled with C. Who knows after all the healing how things will turn out? Let ya'll know later. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.AMF

Welcome back, AMF. Yes, we missed you. I bet it's taking you hours to catch up on all the back posts here! Was the pneumonia related to your surgery or was it something you caught in the hospital? You sound pretty upbeat for all you've been through. My gyno hasn't used the "H" word yet, but I have fibroids and uncontrolled bleeding, so it's probably just a matter of time....Are you powering down lots of acidophilus to counteract those nasty antibiotics? Hope you are all better soon.
AMF - Welcome Back! I was going to post something to you the other day (figured you oughta be back soon) but then I thought it could possibly get shoved down to the bottom somewhere and you'd likely not see it anyway... So, you're doing okay huh? You should bounce back quick - just take it easy. I'm glad you came here as soon as you could - I was getting a little worried there...
And - YES - OF COURSE you have been missed!! I really did think about you on our anniversary, wondered how you were faring... sorry to hear about the pneumonia though - a side effect from the surgery??

Welcome back AMF,I've been worried about you. Glad to see you're back. You sure have had your share, haven't you? Pneumonia?? That's terrible. Hope you feel better soon. My thoughts and prayers for a comfortable recovery.
So sorry about what you had to go through hope everything is looking better now. I had a hysterectomy like 25 years ago and after you get through the after effects of surgery you will be so much better. My energy level just soared through the roof you don't have all those hormonal ups and downs and oh yeah your sex life is so much better !!! So look for some of the positives you deserve them!------------------ wherever you go there you are
Yes AMF, I missed you. I am glad you're out and the thing is over with. I'm so sorry about the pneumonia. Be sure and get some good probiotic into your system now after the antibiotics. I suggest Lactobacillus GG by Culturelle, which you can special order at most indie drugstores or at www.Culturelle.com It adheres to the intestinal tract and remains there longer and better than the others and should normalize your gut if you have any problems. They say it takes about six weeks before you heal, as far as the surgery goes, so keep us posted on the progress.

Geez: Thanks to all of you for the caring words. Now, Jenni said it best: Pneumonia was a complication from having the surgery even though the GYN said that it is not all that common that he sees this. Well, I should be the lucky one! LOL!!!!!Yes, it is early in the morning here. Had trouble with what else? I am still on the C side, even though when I began the antibiotics I had some bouts of D. Well, any way, I am making no predictions about my bowels until I am more healed up.Oh, and on the question about acidolphilus: I have been taking LOTS of that to try and counteract the adverse effects. I am also calling my doc to ask for the liquid oral nystatin to swish in my mouth (anybody know what it is called?)I also battled itching you know where and had to use some cream for that. Seems to be some better now.Once again, thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. I love all of you so very much. I was having a really bad computer fix while in the hospital. It is soooooo great to be back.AMF

Wow, you must feel like a physical wreck! But you seem to be in good spirits. I'm glad it's all over for you and now you can heal. It'll be interesting to see how you feel once your hormones get regulated. Good to hear from you and keep us posted!

AMF, hi! glad you're home again...sorry you've been thru all that, but I'm sure it's a bit of relief to be "done," now.
Hi AMF-
Welcome back! Glad you're on the mend. You might want to ask your doctor about prescribing estrogen cream for the itching.Take care,Debbie

Whoo hoo! Welcome back, darlin'! I have heard of people getting pneumonia from a stay in the hospital before - don't know how common it is though. Boy, I sure can understand the computer withdrawal! But you're "home" now! Whoo hoo!------------------"I get by with a little help from my friends." John LennonMissycat
