that after living with IBS for almost 2 years, tonight reading the postings on this BB is about the best I've felt. I'm 28 and have IBS D. I'm pretty shy about talking about my symptoms with friends and family but I responded to so many postings tonight! Many of the questions that have been running through my mind over the past couple of months (my symptoms have become more severe lately) were discussed in one posting or another.Anyway, I just wanted to say it's nice to meet you all on this BB. I really appreciate that there are people that are able to open up and share their experiences to help others out.One question: has anyone tried acupunture? I'm thinking of trying it but would love to hear of someone's experiences first.

aaandres,I think everything has been tried by someone or another on this board. The problem is there is such a wide variety of symptoms with IBS, that there is no one remedy. If you're going to try something new, try Mike's hypnotherapy tapes. It may take a few weeks, but you will feel better with them. Hypnotherapy for IBS is probably the most effective treatment yet found. A lot of us are doing much, much better having used the tapes.

aaandres- Welcome to the board. This is a fantastic place and I've felt emotionally better since I found it. People that haven't been "there" just don't have the understanding and compassion that we need. I've never tried accupunture but look forward to reading replies of those who have. Take Care. FC

Hi aaandres and welcome to the board!
A member called Maceo has posted about acupuncture in the recent past - I would suggest you do a search (top of screen, under "Post Reply") on his name for more info.

I know - isn't this board a lifesaver? I love it here. I am interested to know if acupuncture has worked for anyone also. I am really getting tired of having to remember to take my pills for this and that - like an old woman!

Welcome aaandres
Yes, everyone's posts here echo my feelings exactly. While I have many kind and compassionate friends, they really don't have a CLUE as to what it is really like to live on a day-to-day basis with IBS and the pain...But here on the BB, it is INSTANT connection, along with the concern and compassion. If nothing else, we can get a little TLC that we don'talways receive in the "real" world, but at best, we also get information that goes over and above some of the info the MDs give out.So welcome, and best wishes to feel well...

Hi aaandres:I am very new to this BB also and was very happy to have found it. Its great to be able to talk with people who KNOW exactly what you are going thru and offer advice. Everyone helps each other here. I thank God the day I found this site. I have just started on Caltrate Plus calcium and I actually felt pretty good today, too early to tell though.Anyway, welcome, nice to have yet another person to talk with.
