IBS-D Newbie from GA

Hi Celestine;Welcome to the forum! I imagine if you were in the hospital for a 3-day stay, you had lots of testing!Lots of great information on here. Read lots and ask any questions you'd like. We're not always right but there are lots of members on here that have better knowledge of IBS than alot of doctors! And, nope, you're not alone!

You're right. Lots of tests. The GI doc told me IBS is a "process of elimination"(no pun intended) diagnosis. I was hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain. I was unable to eat solids and the pain was getting progressively worse. They couldn't diagnose me or stop the pain in the ER, so I was admitted. Eventually, IVs of morphine and Bentyl stopped the attack. The tests continued until IBS was the only option remaining. I continued with Bentyl daily and Vicodin PRN until I moved. The new GI doc changed the Bentyl to Nulev. I also take Creon 20 due to absorption issues. I went 20 months without an attack severe enough to put me in the ER,by far my best record. Unfortunately it came to an end a few weeks ago. My severe attacks all build the same way. I'll have the horrific pain for a few hours one day, then it goes away until the next day when it lasts a while longer, etc. This will go on for a week or so until the big one hits.
