Hi Petra - Yes, being on the bulletin board and constantly reading about, typing, and thinking about IBS - whether your symptoms or another's, does interfere with the processes involved in using clinical hypnotherapy to address the brain-gut connection. The protocol used for the gut-specific processes in the IBS Audio Program is geared to taking you away from IBS thoughts and connections and breaking that automatic response. And for most folks, they no longer think about IBS because they are no longer having the symptoms - or at least they are thinking about it less, and do not have to have the support - But of course, support is good too! When reading about symptoms, this brings these thoughts to mind that add on to the thoughts you have during the course of your day - so on top of thinking about IBS while having IBS symptoms, you are adding to the thoughts. Now, please do not get me wrong - coming to this support group can be very helpful and therapeutic - after all, I have been here since 2000!
But I do know, from personal experience, as well as from those I speak with, that being away from the BBs and not reading and thinking about IBS if it isnt necessary, is helpful to your progress while doing the hypnotherapy process. For those of you who are reading this, and who have had their symptoms be reduced from reading suggestions, and from support, then that is great! Everyone is different and needs to find their own way. But for a great many folks who have successfully done the program, they no longer are members, because IBS is no longer a part of their life.Should you need further support, do feel free to call 877-898-2539 and they will be happy to address any concerns regarding the IBS Audio Program you may have. As a sufferer of IBS since 1983, I do know that this group has helped me through a lot of tough IBS times - and I learned of the hypnotherapy program here - and it was the best thing I did to treat my IBS - you can read my full journey in the link below if you wish. Since I was on the BB while doing the program, and having such a hard-wired condition, it took me 3 rounds of the program before I began to really see relief. I do always wonder if I weren't on the BB so much, if it would have taken less time - but I wanted to encourage others and be encouraged - but, the bottom line is that Mike says staying away from reading about IBS when not absolutely necessary is better to overall progress in terms of time and quality.Hope this helps - all the best to you all. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
