I am so sick of running to the bathroom every 5 min. in the morning. What is the best med to take to help bind you up? I mean a prescription...as pepto and immodium just make me feel bloated and sick on top of black diarehhea. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Not yet but i was planning on going to talk with my Dr. so that is why I asked. Give me some kind of idea on the meds to ask her about. Thank you!

Yes I have just by word of mouth from my Dr. though. I do not have insurane

so it makes it hard.

It is hard to give advice if "organic" issues have not been ruled out such as Ulcerative Colitis etc so you should talk more to your Dr . For me Lomotil worked very well when I just had bouts of diarehha but if you have something else going on...stopping the D might not be the answer so again I would encourage you to get a definative diagnois before considering any meds.

Bloodwork and a GI workup that should include both upper and lower endoscopies. You should also have a CT scan of the abdomen but since insurance is an issue talk to your Dr. and see what she/he recommends but treating it as IBS without a diagnosis is not in your best interest.

Never do a CT scan! A CT scan of the abdomen is the same as 1,000 dental x-rays.Wayyyyyy too much radiation.He can get scoped and if needed MRI.

IBS,I agree with her that you need to get further workup. See a physician and get these tests done:fecal occult blood test (stool)stool test for ova and parasitec-reactive proteinblood SED rateCBC Metabolic panelWithout insurance, you will have to negotiate the prices when the billcomes. Some hospitals do financial assistance or reduce the bill by 50%if it is self pay. A colonoscopy without insurance is $1500. Upper endoscopy is in the hundreds and CT scanis about 400. You should probably apply for financial assistance through a localhospital. They may cover 100% of your bills.Or get insurance and get these tests done. IBS by word of mouth is not prudent as the previous personsaid, it could be other diseases.
