Hi everyone!I am new to this site, but unfortunately am not new to the aggravation of IBS. After 20+ years of symptoms, and many different doctors, my symptoms are worse than ever. The docs I have seen through the years seem to have no real understanding of what I'm going through. I think they just give each patient the same pat answers for IBS symptoms. We all know that each IBS patient is different, and Belladonna or Hyomax just isn't applicable to us all!I long to find a GI doctor or other care-taker in the Atlanta, Georgia area who is compassionate, knowledgable, and experienced with treating IBS specifically. If you have found such a person, please please, let me know. I am so sick of being sick!I have seen 3 GI docs/caretakers in this area in the last 10 years, and none of them knew as much about IBS as I did. In fact I had one caretaker ask me "what do you want me to do about it?" (I want you to f*ing help me stop hurting!)Though there are many gastroenterologists, nutrition specialists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, etc., that MIGHT be able to help, I've found that they often don't focus on IBS. There should be a forum topic where we share with one another any IBS compassionate, helpful specialists that you've found in your local area. If you have found a helpful, compassionate IBS specialist in your area, regardless of their profession, please list the name and location so that others here might take advantage of such specialized care.Let's help each other, cause lord knows, nobody understands how debilitating this can be save for those of us who have been through it!

http://www.ibshypnosis.com/IBSclinicians.html lists someone in Atlanta that came to the UNC clinic to learn the IBS hypnosis protocol developed there. Some of them are listed as Drs but a lot of them are therapists rather than doctors, but they may know who would be a good gastroenterologist to go to as well as they at least did do some training specific to IBS.

Thanks Kathleen! This morning, I found this web site IFFGD.com, which is the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders. I emailed them asking if they can help with finding a gastroenterologist in my area who specializes in Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I received a reply saying they DO have a Patient Resource List of health care professionals who have said they specialize in functional gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS. This list is broken down by state. It is being mailed to me via USPS.If anyone else wants to contact them, the email address is [email protected]
