I have been diagnosed with IBS after a night in the emergency room on tons of morphine. I need a IBS/GI specialist who cares in/around Denver, CO. Any recommendations?

Did a GI Dr give you the morophine? Not to minimize but mine says "everyone" has IBS at some point in their life. Little pain meds only donatal and bentyl. Give the ER Dr a chance if you haven't sounds like he does know "you are in Pain". The only thing my specialist and family dr ever did was recomend fiber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's it and live with it. The "ONLY" help I get is from this board. Please I am not trying to discourage you it just sounds to me like most DR's think irritable bowel is another word for "hypocondriac patient". Did the emergency room do test like colonoscopy or Barium enema. I would not accept the diagnosis of IBS until they were run. Just don't set your sites on MIRACLE DOCTOR I have had this for over 33 years and have not found my Miracle Doctor. I would however like to thank everyone from this board which has given me more hope and less pain in the last month than anything. THANKS!!!!!!

Denver25, Welcome to the Bulletin Board. You are only about the 5th or 6th person I've seen from Denver. I live in Arvada. Two GI specialists have been recommended to me through this BB from people in the Denver area. I have not called them yet, but they were highly recommended, especially a Dr. Hanna. I believe he has an office out towards Arvada and one out south. If you contact BlondeBlonde21###Yahoo.com, she can give you more details. She is in Ft. Collins. The other was a Dr. Morton, recommended by a BB member in Parker, I think. One GI specialist I did go to was Dr. Denault in Westminster, and I would not recommend him....he basically blew me off. Don't give up, you will get lots of replys I'm sure. This BB is a WONDERFUL resource for info, support and encouragment.
