Yes...IBS tires me out ! Sometimes I feel quite literally drained ! But I don't feel that way all the time. My IBS symptoms affect me to a degree every day and I do tend to sleep more than most people now that I don't have to work. I'm usually in bed by 9 and not up until 8. I'm hyper active when up, and assume that may account for the tiredness, but I think the stress of feeling lousy each morning must take a psychological toll. I don't really see a connection with lack of sleep and IBS, as I used to work 12 hour shifts and didn't notice a variance in symptoms. My personal direction is mental control as I think paranoia about this whole IBS thing is worse for me than the physical effects. I'm starting a trial with Celexa, an anti depressent, to see if it interrupts the constant feeling of "nervous stomach", as I call it, that is my main enemy. My bathroom is also my library and while I may be draining my guts out, I'm at least expanding my mind! I would hope you have sought medical advice as you sound really down. Try your best to be in places where you can be relaxed and allow yourself to wind down. I can get really anxious and irritable at times and I'm trying to mellow out a bit. If it helps to know you are not alone, rest assurred I sympathise! Steve
