Tonight at 5:00(central time) KIMT TV Mason City,Iowa ran a story arout IBS"C" drug Zelnorm. The story was about a teen waiting for the Drug to be released to the public and how she has suffered with IBS"C".I sent a letter to the station telling about how we, as IBS suffers, are waiting for both Lotronex and Zelnorm to give us some relief.I told about how I was doing so good on Lotronex only to have it taken it away from me. I told them about the Bulletin board and what we are doing to try to get these drugs on the market and who is responsible for keeping them from us. I'm hoping they will call me and give me a chance to talk about IBS. I live only about 35 mi from Mason City. I know it is only a local station but I believe every little bit helps in getting our message accross. There is maybe a remote chance it could be picked up by one of the major networks if they would desire to contact me for more information. (Mason city Iowa KIMT TV is a CBS affiliate)Taffy

Taffy,Great news! That story, 40 Million Americans Suffering From IBS Forced to Wait Even Longer for Relief: FDA Denial Leave Patients Desperate for New Therapies, was produced by the IBS Self Help Group. I'm glad it got picked up by a CBS affiliate.Anyone can view the segment from the home page of this site. You'll need Microsoft Media Player 7.01 to view it.Jeff[This message has been edited by Jeffrey Roberts (edited 07-17-2001).]

Taffy, hi! Yes, every little bit helps even if it is a small, local market station. I was just sitting here wodering what it takes to get notice for IBS. Not to be flip, but look at post-partum psychosis in the past couple of months. It took tragedies in Chicago & the one in Houston to bring this disorder to the public's attention. What do we IBSer's have to do - murder GI docs, have an urgent "D" episode on the White House lawn, get Britney Spears to say she has IBS?Just a quick little rant w/ my morning coffee

> ...have an urgent "D" episode on the > White House lawn...Hee hee! This image cracks me up. Thanks for the smile. I can just see us. Not sure it would be the appropriate venue though. Then what DOES keep us from getting help?I never experienced Lotronex. Don't know if it would work for me. I won't take antidepressants because I've had such bad experiences with them in the past. (Rictus is not an OK substitute for depression OR D!) I can only think of one thing my guvmint could do for me as an IBS person: It could support telecommuting better. When I work at home, my symptoms diminish greatly. Any symptoms I do have are easier to live with. I am free to arrange my day around my physical capabilities, which leads to much more regular trips to the gym, which is another thing that greatly improves my health. And I am much more productive! Not sure who I should poop on to get this, but I'm loaded and ready when we figure that out...
