I waited 1 whole year to go meet Dr. wangen who said I cud not take treatment when trying to get pregnant OR pregnant so come meet me after you were done with your pregnancy....and after getting done with my pregnancy (very difficult to achive one) I went to meet him..... he carried out test and called back saying... Nothing is wrong... you are allergic to Dairy (all IBSers are ) to Wheat (most IBSers are) and eggs and bean will coz gas and otherwise you are fine.Just watch what you eat and youy should be fine.I asked what fiber to use... he said try and see what suits you.I asked what diet to follow .... he said gluten free, dairy free.I asked what Probiotic to use..... he said the one from our office (the expensive one)I spent close to a $1000 on test, $250 on consultations and another $200 on ph. consultation after results JUST TO HEAR WHAT I ALREADY KNEW... via the websites and IBS forums. Can someone tell me why is he still in business.I respect that he has been able to help a lot of people thru his clinic... but he just told me things I already knew.I feel sooo disappointed and my IBS is no better. I watch what I eat.... during pregnancy I did not touch dairy and gluten but yet I have IBS - DI feel like crying just coz nothing helps...and everyone wants me to be a HAPPY MOM and I am a depressed one even after getting to have a baby after 2 years of trying.....RAMBLING... I know.So someone help.... CALCIUM Or LIBRAX Or Immodium Or Bentyl... I am travelling out of the country in a week and do not have a plan, where I go public restrooms are pretty much NON existant.

Are you sayin Calcium and Imodium do not help at all?Unfortunately some of the prescriptions can take a few weeks to work assuming you could see a GI doctor in the next couple of days so if you haven't tried Calcium and Imodium I would take get those two things and see if the 3X a day calcium works in the next couple of days and if it isn't enough add one Imodium in the morning and one and night then got up to 2 each until you find the dose that keeps you going once a day or so.

GI infections tend to be more consistent diarrhea rather than just after meals. Just after meals is pretty common with IBS.I'd start with either calcium with each meal or the Imodium 2X a day, but take both with you on the trip so if one doesn't work you can try the otherBentyl isn't a bad thing to take, but it tends to be better for GI pain, although sometimes taking it 20-30 minutes before a meal will help reduce the after meal thing. Some people prefer a small dose (maybe even 1/2 a pill) of Immodium before a meal, but only if that doesn't stop you up too much.

Thanks Kathleen..... that was a lot of help !Okay so it is IBS that makes me go after a meal all the time.....Phew now that answered I can go ahead and take the CALCIUM !Can I ask you one last question?
I take immodium at times... however stop after the 2-3 days, but then when I do not take it, it gives me bad diarrea that day when I have not taken it. Is this a immodium withdrawal effect?????AndCan I take Bentyl and Immodium together???any thoughts??THANKS ( a BIG one )

Bentyl and Imodium are both a bit constipating so I'd drop down the Imodium dose if you add in Bentyl. Sometimes people take a bit more Imodium than they need and if you get even a bit backed up that could cause a flushing out effect once the "stopper" is gone. And if you have chronic diarrhea it is going to come back once you stop taking an antidiarrheal.
