Don't give up. It could be something simple like a food intolerance/allergy. Your own sleuthing is going to be a lot better than what the doc can/will do. Books on IBS (eg IBS The First Year by Heather Vorous)) give a list of conditions which should be ruled out first. Also, there's no harm in assuming you do have IBS-D and trying some of the suggestions to get the D under control. Maybe they'll work for you. Then you can try and find the root cause, if there is one.Rosie
