MY Dr. says IBS but I have other symptons and I am not sure! Chronic upper abdominal pain with pain in my right side lower back and lower abdominal pain which is usually more noticeable after a bowel movement. I do have on and off constipation but metamucil seems to help with this problem. I have constant nausea and most of these symptons usually start after i have been up about 4 to 6 hours and are worse when I try to relax. They are not as severe when I am up and moving around. Other drugs being used are modulon,apo-chlorax,losec,domperidone,ativan and tylenol 3. Waiting for months to see a specialist. Anyone out there have all these symtons? This problem is driving me crazy!!!

Yep, bunches of symptoms.So the next itime you are having a flare up, call the doctors office and aske if they have had any cancellations or if they can see you any sooner because you are suffering.You'd be amazed how many doctor practivces will move mountians to get you in if you tell them how bad you feel.Or if your vital signs are bad, like a pulse over 100 or high bloodpressure,the go to the ER. somties the ER is a drag but other times, if you are lucky, there has been many a good ER doctor to assisit in the diagnostics process.Hang in there and keep knocking on doors until someone answers.Kamie

DALE:Ugh...all this trouble and in the "Canadian System". Without a full differential diagnostic workup by a well-qualified gastroenterologist this symptom set you describe can be exceedingly difficult to help with as there are multiple possibilities that cannot be ruled out without a full work up. The "IBS" moniker is sometimes applied too soon, sometimes not, but not having the enrirehistory, physical findings and tests done it is hard to say if that is the case here.Nevertheless, being much more familiar with how to "work the system" in the USA, is there any measn by which you can accelearte the process of getting to see a gatsroenterologist? Until this is done everything elses is guesswork.Perhaps some our other members from The Great White North may have some tips regarding how to move things along "up there".??MNLMNL
