Anybody remember the John Adnerson CW song "Ima swingin" about being on the front porch on the swing....?Well, I don't know if it's my new job changing my schedule and eating habits, but for nearly two months now I have been alternating between D and C. I have never had this happen! I am soooo rarely C, usually only when I travel and don't eat and drink right and don't get much excercise. But now....For example, on Saturday night, I splurged and ate Chicken Alfredo. Now, I knew this would be a problem - the noodles and the cream sauce both mean major D. But, I expected it, and by Sunday afternoon I had severe D. But now, here it is Tuesday, and I am pooping like a sheep! Little round turds that I have to force out, and then I go a little, then have to run back in 10 minutes and force a little more out....This is so weird, and this has been going on for over a month. Anyone else a "swinger"? I am not taking and Immodium or laxatives, and I quite taking the Caltrate a couple of weeks ago thinking that may be stopping me up. And my diet hasn't really changed....*sigh* this everchanging disease... Any suggestions?------------------If you learn from your suffering, and really come to understand the lesson you were taught, you might be able to help someone else who's now in the phase you may have just completed. Maybe that's what it's all about after all...

Wow, Lefty. Don't you just hate it when things change around like that? At least if the change would be a cure, now that would be something.Maybe it's a combination of everything -- a change of jobs and diet. Is there anything you've added new in the past month? I've found that the few times I've bought a different brand of bottled water then my usual things cramp up on me more. It's happened enough that I know it's not my imagination. Usually I drink distilled, reversed osmosis water. If I drink the bottled spring water I get a reaction. If you figure it out, let us know. I almost always "swing" from D to C. For some reason, I am usually C on the weekends - which is a little bizarre (supposedly I have a supersensitive system, and the slightest thing can make me "swing").Yes, I remember the song, but wasn't the word "SWANGIN'"?!

Skeeter, yes they work for C, I would not take them if all you have is D. I am to late telling you on that one though sorry.

Well...I don't know what to tell ya except enjoy the C while it lasts (I mean if it's not painful of course) I do get the pellet thing happening once in awhile....I just kinda shrug it off and thank my lucky stars it's not D for once. If I hafta be one or the other, I'll be the other thanks!(This is not to say of course that C people don't suffer as much as D people!)

Lefty,My advice would be to start taking the Perdiem your son is taking. If you are already taking it.. I would up the dose to twice a day when in the "C" mode. Good Luck.------------------"Today is the first day of the rest of your life"Rose

THanks you all! Yesterday, I was back to really bad D. Didn't make it through supper - 4 bathroom trips during the meal. Jeeesh! What is going on?Rose - thanks. I stopped taking the Perdiem, duh, I didn't even think that I should start that again. Its supposed to be good for both, right? BUT! Per my previous experience, I will start out with 1/2-1 tsp.....Yeah, Peke, I thought I'd enjoy the C, too, but....going every ten minutes because you fell you have to, and then nothing happens.... Ihave new compasion for you c sufferers. Very irritating! IT actually feels like its going to be a big BM, then nothing happens, or a couple of marbles drop out. Jeeeesh, again!Well, thanks again for you compasion. "I'm a swangin.....just a swangin...."

Man am I hurting today!! This morning I had a nice, productive, almost "normal" BM. (Unusual as I'm D and mostly a squishy kinda girl.) Right afterwards, I felt alot of cramping and thought stuff was on the move and I'd be sitting again shortly. That never happened. I've had what feels like the makings of a HUGE fart, but all I've been able to produce is 3 little farts all day.I'm getting anxious now since it'll be time to go home soon, and I won't have a way to get out of the express lanes once I'm on them and something will SURELY happen since I've been in pain all day. Cross your fingers for me that I can make it home and be able to poop in peace??? Please????
