it is gas that makes the stomach rumble as well as gut movements like peristalsis. the sounds of peristalsis movements can be exagerated when anxious hence rumbling when nervous or worried. BUT Flux, you are wrong to say that it is not gas what people have because excessive wind is the major cause of heart burn and unusual sounds of the stomach. think about it...if you are wanting to pass wind but cant it then lets itself become known by a rumbling tummy.so why are there so many pills for gas in the stomach if you are correct and why do we have a whole world of doctors and medics who would love to prove you wrong with the snap of a finger? because your point was rubbish and made in a rude patronizing way.thankyou.

Logic? If there is no movement (e.g,, peristalsis), then how can there be any sound?

There are many people who have heartburn but none of them seem to have ever complained of excess gas. Also, it doesn't follow physiologically, how can any amount of gas cause heartburn?
