Hey all, I feel like I wrote so many of your posts myself! I am new to the site, but have had C problems for about 10 years now. Cut and paste these questions and give me some insight:1) I am a teacher. Do you have a high-stress situation in your life? If so, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH MULTIPLE DEMANDS / conflict happening to you at the same time?2) I do abdominal/back strength exercises, but it seems to make my digestion worse (though I've been told it should do the opposite.) WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS HAPPENING AND SHOULD I KEEP DOING CRUNCHES, ETC.?3) I had a colonoscopy and drank the gallon of Go-lightly. It did not work. My colon stopped dead and they had to do 2 hours of enemas to get it out the next day. My belly is always convex like I'm six months pregnant, but it is not always gas -- it is fecal matter that is just not moving. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR A COLON THAT IS THAT SLUGGISH?4) I have to do water enemas every morning. What is your opinion/experience on this?I've had colonics a few times, each time with such excruciating pain that they had to turn it off for a while. And then, some of the water didn't pass until later in the evening when I go home! Should I stop, or is this doing something positive?5) Lactulose did not help, nor does fiber. These types of things just seems to make me more bloated, but not more regular. Have you had this experience? Is it possible that I need to take less fiber since it passes so slowly?6) Do you find that eating late at night makes you feel awful the next day?7) If you don't "go" for a while do you start feeling super depressed? Do you feel very antisocial?8) Any suggestions you can give me to survive this -- after ten years of trying everything and nothing working consistently?Thank you. I know I left something out, but I will probably be back. I am looking forward to hearing what you all say!karen from kansasage 35

I am a teacher as well. Stress plays a major role in me IBS and GAD, not to mention the fact that I work in the most disfunctional school in America. We are one of the best schools in the city but you wouldn't think so if you knew what went on there.I only walk and do yoga. Anytime I have done stomach crunches, they make my stomach hurt. I have enough of that without causing myself more pain.Magnesium, citrucel and a very specific diet have really helped me to go on a regular basis. I have also trained my body to go at the same time every morning. I give myself an hour of just relax time before I head off to school so that I can go normally. I don't know about doing the enema everyday. What does your doctor say about that? I also drink at least 12 glass of water a day. I found that drinking it slowly really helps. If I guzzle down a glass every hour, I just pee it all out and it doesn't help. If you take fiber, it is very important to drink lots of water. I also take flax seed oil capsules with my lunch. Stress is my main problem, at least I think it is. I have decided to make a major change in my life starting next year. I have spent too many days in the ER with pain and too many nights crying. I have had it. I am too young for this I am won't let this take over my life anymore. Sorry for the rant...I hope you can find some kind of consistent relief here. I found so much information on this board that i would have never known about. These people have helped me so much.Good luck

I feel your pain. Stress is definitely a role in IBS. Yoga has helped me. Diet has been huge, as I felt sick if I had a large meal ate popcorn or ice cream before bed. I eliminated milk products, cocoa butters/oils, wheat and have not had the mucus I usually get. I eat prunes, raisins, granoloa with oats not wheat, apples, pure apple cider regularly. I take Metamucile 1T in morning 1/2 hr. before eating. I drink de-caf only green tea or Tummy Trouble tea with mint and cammomile. I switched to soy products which are great for you and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything they even have a soy chocolate (cocoa only not with the fat) ice cream. I eliminated wheat products which are hard to digest. I switched to low fat or no fat salad dressings. I tried Zelnorm, it worked while I was on it, but I don't think it should be used long term as everything relapsed when I discontinued. Go to www.eatingforibs.com they have some other wonderful suggestions. Give it a week or so before you notice results as we know how long those colons are. This has what's worked for me. I still have days of constipation, but it't definitely better. Good luck to you!

Hi KarenI'm 17, and have been suffering (undiagnosed of course) for about 4 years.1. My life is really stressful.. my family situation is all-hell and I have a lot of mental issues that I'm not dealing with. Unfortunately my answer to this one, is "get drunk"2. My best guess is that the strengthening tenses up your muscles. I never do any back/side strengthening stuff.. it makes me a lot worse3. I suggest fasting. Lots of juices and water. It's really hard for the first couple days but you get to feeling great. I know this isn't a long term solution, but I was pooping about 8 times a day when I wasn't even eating, while I fasted (weird huh)4. I'm afraid of enemas, I don't know. I drink coffee in the morning. You've probably tried that, though5. Could be. I feel better when I don't eat much fiber.6. Yes7. Yes. I quit three jobs and dropped out of school and lost all of my friends. And no, things aren't going better now :8. Sorry, I'm still trying to figure things out myself :

Hi there,Re: this question: If you don't "go" for a while do you start feeling super depressed? Do you feel very antisocial?Yes, very much so. As a matter of fact I just snapped at my boyfriend because he asked me what I was doing! (while I was typing this). I get very cranky when I haven't gone for a few days. Once I finally go, life is okay again. So that's all I have to say right now. Just wanted to give a little bit of input.Bye.
