I feel your pain. Stress is definitely a role in IBS. Yoga has helped me. Diet has been huge, as I felt sick if I had a large meal ate popcorn or ice cream before bed. I eliminated milk products, cocoa butters/oils, wheat and have not had the mucus I usually get. I eat prunes, raisins, granoloa with oats not wheat, apples, pure apple cider regularly. I take Metamucile 1T in morning 1/2 hr. before eating. I drink de-caf only green tea or Tummy Trouble tea with mint and cammomile. I switched to soy products which are great for you and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything they even have a soy chocolate (cocoa only not with the fat) ice cream. I eliminated wheat products which are hard to digest. I switched to low fat or no fat salad dressings. I tried Zelnorm, it worked while I was on it, but I don't think it should be used long term as everything relapsed when I discontinued. Go to www.eatingforibs.com they have some other wonderful suggestions. Give it a week or so before you notice results as we know how long those colons are. This has what's worked for me. I still have days of constipation, but it't definitely better. Good luck to you!
