I read the internet too much. I must take transit test next week & dread it (can't clear rectum w/o suppositories.)What if they tell me I have the above & there's no cure?Please respond, I'm in pain or discomfort all the time.

hi- i have intestinal pseudoobstruction....and yes, there is no cure. currently, however i take 'Motilium' which is Doperidone 10mg, three times per day. it increases peristalsis and certainly works for me. HOWEVER- it isnt reccommended for long term use. (But i've been fine on it for almost a year). so my next problem is finding out what the long term effects are....if you know/find out from your doc etc. let me know? all the very best!!!

Are you relatively pain-free? Do you work outside the home?

in re: to pain, yes, mostly pain-free, cant however ever forget to take meds or v bad again. overall am HEAPS better so would definetely recommend you try! take 1/2 hour before food and try to have small meals often as opp to larger less frequent meals- thats my advice.

yeah, im a uni student- studying nutrition and dietetics actually. but yes, i've missed lots being sick etc. :-(

I don't think Motilium is available in the U>S. On the web, all the pharmacies are in Canada.How were you diagnosed? Colonic marker test? Upper GI?By the way, Princess, thank you so much for replying!

as far as i know there are no other medications like motilium...so if its not available i'm not sure what you should do? maybe ask your doc to see if they could find out if doperidone is in anything else?? i was diagnosed by a combination of a LOT of tests and a lot of persistence on my behalf- the final conclusive test was actually a stomach emptying test (cant remember what theyre called). all the very best!princess
