Hi guys, first off a quick "HI" and Hello. I've been passed along here Via a web site my doctor has just given me .I've been reading various FAQ and posts throughout this board for the last few hours, and they all seem to lead me round and round in circles with the information my doctor gave me today. For the last few years I've been suffering with a stomach problem that causes bloating, constipation and a general feeling of lethargy. I've been to the doctors several times and throughout i've been prescribed anti_acids and told to come back if problems flareup again. Well with one thing or another I learnt to deal with them and go back oly when they get too much to physically handle. Just recently I've been having bouts, rather waves of extreme lethargy, where my whole body feels tired and just aches. its comes and passes in a few hours, and I still have my stomach problems excess gas, and constipation, with an odd stabbing spasm every now and again just below my ribs on the right side. Also I have regular dull headaches, no pain, almost a foggy flat feeling. If I eat WHITE bread the it instantly flairs up my stomach, and Beer is non too helpfull either.having read the posts here and noticed the fibromyalgia forum I'm kinda confused as to what really is going on here. The doctor says he thinks its IBS and gave me a web site to look at ( together with some meds to slow the rate of water absorption in my gut, to get me moving again) and it has no mention of fatigue or headaches or head fogginess. Could anyone here offer any help. The stomach as I've said I learnt to deal with, this fatigue is starting to take its toll.. is it IBS or not.. <sigh> .. Am I looking in the right places.. so many people mentioning so many things is really starting to confuse me.. Its about time I spoke to the people who suffer with this thing and ask the people who REALLY know.. With my thanks .. ANdy

It does sound like the fatigue is something other than IBS to me from what you said. You may need to see a different doctor to get all sorted out (like a rhumatologies (sp?) for a real fibromyalgia work up).Other things to consider. You have a sleep disorder. when you do not sleep that can set off FM and IBS and cause fatigue. If you are overweight or snore you may need to be checked to make sure you breathe when you sleep. There is also Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and a number of other causes of fatigue (has your thyroid been checked lately. Tired and constipation can be low thyroid).K.

Thanks for the prompt replies folks. After an afternoon browsing the site the doc gave me ( in case you're interested i'ts at : http://www.ibs-research-update.org.uk/This is where I found the link to this site, and I'm starting to see a definate edge towards starting with my diet. I eat very little pre-processed foods ( ready meals and stuff like that ) but drink little water and eat little fibre aside from vegetables and wholemeal bread. HmmmI think I should give the diet change a try, finish this course of Movicol the doc gave me and go from there.. Can anyone recommend any books I could try.. And once again thankyou for the time spent replying guys.. It is most appreciated.. Andy.. sticking around if thats okay
