I posted a couple months back about a successful couple weeks I had due to a new regiment I was trying and I wanted to share with everyone THAT IT IS STILL WORKING!!! Its like I have a new life. Or my old life from college back. I am just so thankful that the combination of what I've been doing has been working so effectively and consistently. I'm knocking on wood as I type
There is hope, I think. I don't want this to sound like bragging or something, I just really want to share what worked for me with you guys since I know that so many people have to suffer unfairly
The number one thing that I reallllllly think is the main reason for the last month (with ZERO D-incidents. Should I repeat that? NOT ONE D IN THE LAST MONTH!!!! I dont even know what to think of that!) is the Digestive Advantage pills for IBS. I buy them on Amazon and think they are worth every penny. Whoever came up with this - genius. And I am convinced that the other main contributor to my success if PEPPERMINT. How it took me so long to discover the wonders of peppermint, I don't know, specially since it has helped me since I was a kid in soothing nausea - Tic tacs, chewing gum, altoids, etc. I take a peppermint gel every day. I drink peppermint tea every morning and most nights before bed. And I keep peppermint pills in my purse for days when I need to go out and run errands. (I also buy these things on amazon since I have an amazon prime account and usually find things with free shipping woo!)In addition to these two miraculous amazing things, I take a Vitamin D pill every morning and half a calcium tablet every morning. I still keep Immodium in my pocket (I never feel comfortable unless I know I have at least 3 on me when I leave the house) but I now only take them right before a meal if I'm out at a restaurant (you can never be too careful, right?) or if I get really nervous somewhere (have you ever noticed that when you're nervous, you can stress yourself into having D? UGGGGG). But I was really trying to not be addicted to Immodium and now I go several days without ever taking one! I've also been exercising 3-5 times a week at the Y doing Zumba, Pilates and Yoga and though sometimes I think the Pilates makes me gassy (maybe that's psychological but all the contracting of the stomach has got to do SOMETHING right?), I think the combination and trying to be healthy has been helping for serious. Plus I've been sleeping better.I have not had to give up red wine (mmmmm my worst vice) or chocolate and though I quit coffee and caffeine back in October, I allow myself a small cup every couple days just cause I love the taste and I have ZERO problems (so far). ITS AMAZING! :-DI know everyone out there is trying everything they can. I'm a poor, self-employed graphic artist living at home with her parents, trying to have a social life and in a very serious relationship with The Boy (who has ZERO knowledge about my problems and I would like to keep it that way for now), so I have been looking for relatively inexpensive ways of dealing with this and I'm tellin' you that this stuff is WORKING. I am just so incredibly HAPPY lately that I wanted to share this happiness with you guys, this amazing support forum, in hopes that maybe some of my good fortune can help someone else. I hope everyone is having a decent week and staying warm if you're one of the "lucky" ones to get snow (blegh. I'm snowed in this weekend and it suckssss). On a side, funny note, there's a song called ULCERATIVE COLITIS by the amazing Hank Green (of the legendary Vlogbrothers) and even though a lot of people with IBS don't have colitis I think a lot of people can relate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0uIa28VH_g...=video_response
