Hi. I wanted to know if any of you out there have had any success with Lactulose, as a stool softener. I am IBS-C with frequent urging but only manage to have small hard BMs.
Yes, it was the first thing doctor prescribed.Make sure you drink plenty of water - as lactulose draws water into your gut from the rest of your body to soften your stools.Personally I prefered Fybogel (Isphagula Husk), I think its called psyllium powder in the US - as the taste is better. One thing I would suggest is eat plenty of fruit and veggies - as this does help relieve C as well.Since I've been eating my 5 fruit and veggie portions a day I haven't once experienced the rabbit pellets (small hard stools) so there must be something in it.Clair
