A friend of mine's GI doctor recommended that she eat one whole, unskinned kiwifruit per day for her IBS and apparently it works great for her. Has anyone else heard of this being used as a treatment? Since discovering this, I have also heard of it being recommended to several other people, including my father-in-law who has diverticulitis and constipation. I think that it's working well for him too. There is also a product called Phloe for bowel regularity which contains concentrated kiwifruit extract. Maybe it's because I am in New Zealand and we have all this kiwifruit around.I have tried both but, I didn't notice any immediate improvement. I only suffer from functional pain, so I don't know what I could have expected anyway. I still eat an unpeeled kiwifruit every day as it certainly doesn't cause any problems.
