I bought some lactose free (and fat free) milk a few days ago. I've drank it a couple times, and it seems to give me a fair amount of gas. Does this happen to anyone else?I also noticed that in the list of ingredients, it lists "lactase enzyme". Of course that's the enzyme that lets you digest lactose. But if the milk is lactose free, then why do they need to add lactase enzyme? Is the milk really not lactose free?

Hi. No milk is lactose free. They put the enzyme in there so that the lactose is already digested into the sugars it converts to in a person who doesn't have an intolernace's body (does that make sense?). It's really no different to taking the enzyme in pill form before you drink the milk. Have you been diagnosed with lactose intolerance? If not it might be something else in milk that bothers you, not neccesarily the lactose. Hope this helps
