Hello all. I am, almost certain, Lactose Intolerant. I was allergic to milk as an infant, and never drank milk growing up. I can tolerate milk in the mornings *with coffee and sometimes with cereal* but as of lately not at all! So, about 3 days ago, we ate a meal that contained milke (bechemel sauce to be exact) I am still having D. And the time before that was some 3 weeks ago in europe when i had ice cream and it sent me into a 3 day D attack.Do you think that I have some sort of infection? or is this IBS? Or is this Lactose intolerance??? Any help is appreciated!

Well both the milk thing you had can also be fatty which can set of IBS. It isn't always lactose that is the problem and why they were different from your usual milk consumption.I don't think you are getting repeated GI infections that happen to match in time when you eat dairy foods. You should run this past the doctor, but 3 days of diarrhea every so often can be consistant with IBS. Usually my reactions to lactose are shorter than 1 days and only happen when I have a lot of milk.K.

Sounds more like an allergy to milk protien than lactose intolerance if you cannot even have cookies. While some people have both, I don't think there is any evidence it is more common in IBSer than in anyone else. IBSers may have more problems if they independantly have problems with milk than non-IBSers because they don't tolerate gas well for lactose, or may react more to allergies with GI symptoms than other people.K.
