Patrick - I'm not sure that the heart is really beating any faster; maybe you're just more aware of it when all is quiet. Do you have any other problems other than the IBS? Lightheadesness could come from low blood sugar or a drop in blood pressure.
Hi irishpatrick:I agree with Marier, the rapid heartbeat and lightheadedness could be something else. I've been told that any time you get a rapid heart beat in the middle of the night it should be checked out. It could be blood pressure, thyroid problems, or another condition. I'd get it looked at.JeanG
I have had all the tests done...and my doctor can't pinpoint the problem...So I think since my stomach hurts and I had some bowel prolems in the past its all he can come up with.... I might be up for a second opinion. I still think I may have a parasite...??!!
I seem to have a problem relaxing when I am asleep. If I just rest, awake, I feel more relaxed compared to when I sleep..strange.... odd.... IBS... YES.....take care/Maceo
In my 17 years with IBS, I have only been awakened once by it. And that was after a coast to coast flight, so I blamed jet lag for it. I'd definately recommend a physical with a thyroid check along with other such tests.
