Have had all the necessary tests including my last colonoscopy in July and sigmoidoscopy in November. However, for the last few months it started with incomplete evacuation and the last few day it is terrible pain when stool or gas pass around the decending loop and left side of my stomach. Going to the bathroom makes the pain stop but even gas can make it hurt until it passes. Just got off the phone with my GI specialist who said there is nothing there, take your bentyl and a hot bath because it is a spasm. Don't worry about it. Well I do and I am. Does anyone else experience this. When the evacuation is incomplete I have to take a warm enema and then it all comes out and I feel better. Thank you for your support.

Poopa -Well, I know exactly how you feel. I also have the same symptoms and concerns that you do. However, I hate to say it, but I think your GI may be right. The spasms can be debilitating and scary. Its hard to believe that there isn't something really obstructing, but that is usually the case. I have been dealing with this condition for almost 25 years and I know when I start to get anxious it makes the pain worse.I too take warm water enemas on a daily basis - sometimes both in the morning and night. It really helps to ease the spasms when there isn't anything in there for the muscles to cramp down on.Good luck.loon

I have that dreaded pain in the left side as well. My dr. told me it was "gas pains". Really there is not too much I can do about. I do not empty my bowels properly either and that is when I get the pain. Sometimes I cannot sleep on that side because it hurts so badly. If I eat prunes and drink tons of water I do not become as constipated the pain is not as bad but if I dont' go for a few days I am in agony. Sorry I cannot be of much help but I can sympathize and understand how you feel. Hang in there,danielle

Hey if you can't get it all out do the enema thing. You need to ask the doc about some type of muscle relaxor.HeShe should be able to do better by you than what he's doing.

Doesn't the left side suggest a spleen thing? My acupuncturist says it is "tighter" on that side, and it feels like it! He's helped a bit with the treatment, yoga has helped too.

I have left sided pain too. Sometimes it feels like a sharp pinch, other times it feels like a localized cramp, other times it feels as if something is pressing on my bladder from the left. I don't have the C or D as severely as others if I watch my fiber intake. My GI diagnosed me with IBS when I had severe spasms of the sigmoid colon and no cause.Anyone else feel the pinching pain?

I have had symptoms on and off for 3+ years. Primarily on the left side. I have had two flex. sigs done and results were normal.Sometimes it seems like it is worse after eating spicy foods, but I am not sure.I take Citrucil and am regular, but get this pain, discomfort on my left side ---belt level. When I sneeze, I can feel it.My ribs tend to be tender at times too.I have been to my Internal Medicine Dr. many timesand have seen a GI in the past....nothing.I am frustrated

hi, i have the pain in my left side it then goes up into my back! no regular d or c but i find it usually starts when i,ve been eating white flour(bread,doughnuts ect)+onoins

I have left side pain also. A week ago it started under my ribs. Now, it seems to be lower. I've been wondering if it's my ovary or my IBS...help! Being anxious only makes it worse.
