The products were produced from May 1 to December 11. They were distributed nationwide and to two other countries through grocery stores, restaurants and institutions. Some of the products were sold at retail grocery stores in packages that can be identified by consumers. The products carry the establishment number P-635. What really sucks is thata. Listeria can really make some folks very sick, and can kill a baby or immunosuppressed personb. The media coverage of this is WHOLLY INADEQUATE in the context of the NUMBER of products potentially contaminated and the AMOUNT andc. It is even into the restaurant-deli food system where you cannot even check it yourself...you have to count on someone ELSE to do it.I don't know about everyone elses towns, but there has not even been a NEWSPAPER article about this ALL WEEKEND in OUR circulation area. And n THIS county I can tell you there are plenty of older, frailer people eating in restaurants, and prepared foods. The BOARS HEAD label is very common in the PUBLIX grocery chain in Fla. and I am SURE those unsliced processed turkey products have been behind the deli counter and have been sold.This is just another example of the deplorable food inspection system in this country. We are more worried about federal funding for an ABM System than the USDA inspection funding, which is supposed to be an ANTI-B.M. Thank you for the information, Mike. We will definitely be staying away from these products. I heard the tail-end of a report on this on a minute news brief and was wondering which brands they were referring to.
