I need some advice and wisdom. If you have chronic D every day, is it a good idea to schedule using medications to prevent problems? Would it be ok to take 2 Lomotil every 4 hours? I have tried immodium, but it does not seem to work well for me. Also wondered if I switched to Motofen could I take less medicine to get the same effect. Has anyone figured this out to their own satisfaction? What seems to work best for you? Is there any concern using Lomotil long term? Do you get immune to the effects or rebound D if you stop taking it? Any advice would be most appreciated and good Karma shall be returned to you. BestTom

I have had good luck taking immodium the night before I have to go somewhere and then again right after my first bm. AS per lomotil, I have not taken it a lot but when I have it is after 1 (or a few) bm's and then I find that I usually have one more majjor movement and then it settles down for a few hours. Something I think you should really discuss with your Dr. though.

I have taken Lomotil for about 1 1/2 years now. Maybe a little more. I take it about an hour and a half before I have to go out. If I am having a not so D day, I take one. If I am having D several times already or if I am going to a wedding, funeral etc I take 2. My Dr said I can take up to 6 a day. Like when my daughter was having the baby. I took 2 and about 6 hors later my stomack started feeling nervioius so I took another one. I was able to stay and await the birth without any D.Hope this helps.Take careKat
