I'm newbie to this group. I've had fibro for 5 years and IBS for the past year. My Rhumatologist doc was surprised with the IBS symptoms since I must take narcotics for my chronic pain. I told him that I saw an article in Medscape that Lotranex was comming back in a new lower dose (News from the 67th ACG-October 24, 2003). He said that he would prescribe it, but he could not find the new formulation in his Rx material. Anyone know the details on this? I take a preparation of coral calcium which is coated with emu-oil. It helps, but I need something stronger. suepsychol - deep do in the deep south.

there is a lotronex forum here you could check (5HT3 under meds) but my understanding is that a rhemeutologist couldn't prescribe it as GI docs need special training for this.Bada

I believe any doctor can prescribe it but they must sign up for the folder and get those blue stickers from GlaxoSmithKline. Here's their home page http://www.lotronex.com/ Good Luck

Loulou is right. My family practice doctor prescribes Lotronex for me, but she had to register with GSK and receive the stickers that go on my prescriptions.
