Different ones work for different people; start with the cheapest and easiest to get (Mag Oxide) and then if that doesn't work try one of the others (Citrate, Malate, etc.); i use mag citrate and it works better than oxide.

Thank you for responding. The Mg malate I was using for 2 weeks did not do a thing. When I explained the problem to the nutritionist at the health food store, he said that malate is not easily absorbed. He recommended citrate.I've been taking Mg citrate capsules for a couple days now. So far, so good.Laylo

Hi,I had used the mag oxide with no results. It caused me to have a very difficult time urinating. Then I tried mag citrate. It was liquid and I didn't know how much to take. So I took half the bottle.
That was several times the necessary dose and I've certainly had the 'hurry-ups' since 4:30 this morning. I think I'm going to like this once I figure out how much to take.!!It says on the bottle that it will produce a BM in 1/2 to 6 hours...that was 6 hours on the dot!!Everything I find out about magnesium confuses me a little more. I was just reading on one site that if you're taking 500mg mag then only about 160 mg is absorbed so if you needed 350 absorbed you'd have to figure how many of those 500's to take. I'm wondering if the 'absorbable' difference is why I didn't have results with the oxide?

Hi Wildrose(nice name); I think different people react one way or another to different products; some people on this forum do very well with oxide, some don't; If you find one of the mag supplements that work well for you, that's great; good luck.
