My IBS had been under control for a year, and now it is back with a vengeance. Not only does the news have me on edge, I have a close relative who is being deployed. The effect on my system has been catastrophic. Pain, diarrhea, frequent urination, you name it. Is anyone else experiencing this since the horrible events two weeks ago? Any tips on how to relax?

Meditate, listen to relaxation tapes, keep a journal of your thoughts, exercise, limit your news exposure...don't watch CNN all day, just watch for a set time period, or check the news only a couple of times a day, do something enjoyable.K.------------------When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fallThink of it, ALWAYS. Mahatma GandhiMy story and what worked for me in greatly easing my IBS: http://www.ibsgroup.org/ubb/Forum17/HTML/000015.html I do not work for anyone who sells any IBS related products.

I to have been having problems with my IBS since the tragedy. My husband could be deployed and the stress is wreaking havoc. I often will try to relax with a couple of cd's that I have of thundering rainstorms and ocean surf. I don't know if that will help you or not. Let me know if it does.

I hope this can help.Hi Shawn Eric, I hope this e-mail finds you well. In light of what has recently happened and the extra burden extreme stress can place on everyone, especially those with chronic disorders, we created (with a little help from our friends) two new web pages on coping with trauma. They are located at http://www.iffgd.org/GIDisorders/DisasterAdult.html for adults and http://www.iffgd.org/GIDisorders/DisasterChildren.html for helping children. I thought you might find the information of interest. Take care. Regards, Bill Norton IFFGD------------------Moderator of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anxiety and Hypnotherapy forum.I work with Mike building his websites. www.ibsaudioprogram and www.healthyaudio.com I also work with Mike in IBS clinical trials using Mikes tapes at an IBS research facility. My own website on IBS is www.ibshealth.com Please visit for accurate information on IBS.

Doey--You are not alone. Yes, I too, have had a major flare-up as a result of Sept. 11. I thought I had this diarrhea monster, more or less, under control, but after Sept. 11 my insides have again turned to water. Am trying to manage it with a combo of Lomotil, Pepto, Questran, Immodium, Ibscacol and by not eating very much. Do have two doctor appts. this week to see if I can get any of the meds I've seen mentioned on website.
