I've been so busy with my new job I don't have time to do anything lately.Has anybody noticed that IBS symptoms seem to be worse during and shortly after your monthly cycle? I noticed that I get crampy and sick for a few days during and shortly after. I usually feel extremley tired too and I also experience nauseau (sp).Anybody else out there notice this? Obviously women....

Hi Chris - welcome back - hows the new job?Actually my IBS symptoms are much better whilst I'm having my period - I'm usually on the C side and it "loosens" up during the period which makes things a little easier. I get horrible pains during ovulation but my doc says thats nothing to do with IBS.Sue

me too.the correlation between my time of menstruation is *exactly* the same time that my IBS symptoms worsen. it amazes me really because i can't think of a single time in which one was not affected by the other. i wonder if there's an explanation for this?

Hi sick. I have the pill injection now and it seems to have illiminated all period symptoms, but before i decided to have it i used to get really hot in my stomach, if that makes sence and the D was 100 times worse. Literally running to the loo every 5 mins all day. Like i said, the injection has stopped all of that. Only get ibs cramps now, nothing period related at all.Lisa

Yes, mine has always been worse just before, and at the beginning. Must be a connection, whether hormones, or just more activity or what. I get loose stools a lot just before, even thought I'm IBS-C.

Since I've gone on the Anti D's the main time I suffer is during my period. It's a nightmare, and nothing seems to work to stop it. I was out shopping earlier, and had to leg it to the loo - Nearly didn't make it. I hate it.

Although I am no longer in the "menstrual" group I still remember a few things from before my "hys". Menses usually involves cramps and so does IBS. I have a sneaky suspicion that one may be irritating the other or both.

Ugh! My periods and hormones are a nightmare and next to stress one of my main triggers!I get C for about 3 days of the first week before it is due, then the D starts. It goes for the remaining 4 days, then my period starts, I have D the whole time it is going and finally about 2 days after my period finishes the D starts to clear up.I can't take anything at all that mucks with my horomones, the pill gives me pains and D and I've tried them all. Even herbal PMS things give me explosive D
I haven't found much that helps. Round that time I just pop out the good old immodium, buscopan, paracetamol and as many hot water bottles as I can find and try to vegetate
Bring on menopause I say!!!! (Long wait seeing as I'm only 27

I notice that right before my period my IBS symptoms are far worse, but during my period I feel like I am in heaven, my IBS is sooo much better. It makes the horrible periods I do have seem much more bearable. Is that sad or what? I am not really sure why, but for me it is such a difference.
