I have to have a 20 minute procedure to remove a cyst on my scalp tomorrow. I am afraid of getting into a taxi and having the runs on the table. I will be awake with local anesthesia. I probably can't take Pepto because I can't take anything with aspirin, salicylic acid, can cause bleeding during procedure. I am not as scared of the surgery as I am of my nerves causing the runs. I think those of you with IBS-D understand the fear. Is there anything I can take or eat today that might prevent this? I hope someone sees this today :-( Thank you.

Try Imodium. I just had a skin cancer removed from my leg and was worried about the same thing. I take Motofen or Lomotil, but both are prescription.

Sorry for replying late... Just saw your post.

I agree with bushja1. Imodium should be fine. If you're extra anxious, get 1/2 a Xanax.

By the way, I had the same procedure with local anesthesia, some time ago. It's pretty simple, doesn't hurt at all. You just lie down, let the doctor do his thing and it's over.

Don't worry about it.
