It's from the IBS: your mucosal lining. A lot of IBSers experience the mucus. I have some sinus problems too, e.g., sometimes a drainage problem in my throat or excess mucus there. A link to your mucus problems "at both ends" could possibly be one having to do with immune response (body secretes mucus as an immune response to certain stimuli). ? At least, we think that's true in my case (though I don't have much IBS-type mucus).

I know this sounds strange, but dairy products produce mucous and many people with sinus problems are helped tremendously by eliminating them. Try it for one week and see if there is a difference. People were always asking me if I had a cold before, and I was very stuffed up and blowing my nose all the time. Now that's rare without dairy. It's worth trying.
I asked my Gi at one time if the reason I produced so much mucus in my bowel (or so it seems) could it be related to having chronic sinusitis. He said they werent. I found alittle information about mucus and IBS at a website www.gicare.com under patient education and IBS. Eric also has a link there from his site as well as others. I think that dairy products make you produce more mucus in your sinuses and that it is thicker too. As a child my Mom always said to keep away from dairy when you have a cold. Clear liquids, fluids and juices that are on the light side will make the mucus in your sinuses thinner so it will hopefully drain out and go away. Hope this helps

I have post nasal drip. I wonder if that makes my IBS worse. I stay away from milk products b/c it makes my IBS and post nasal drip worse.
Might try to make this natural spray and see if this helps.1part baking soda to 4 parts water. 3parts water if you want it stronger. Mix well, and put in nasal spray bottle. Spray up nose
Let me know if it helps ya.

Some of my worst flare-ups are during a sinus infection. Nothing seems to help until I get on antibiotics....and then of course my bowel has to recover from the drugs. It's kind of a no win situation. VC
'snot a problem for me. Really I've always had a like between sinus production of mucous and my worse attacks. It was not until recently I found anyone else with this same reaction.
