I feel for you. Poor little ones don't understand why Mom is always sick and why other mommies do so much more with their kids. Mine didn't get it either
Wait till you embarrass your teenager by having to race for the john while you're out with her and her friends. And then try explaining why you were in there for a half hour.

I hear you BQ. Your story brings tears to my eyes because I feel for you and myself as I have gone through the same thing over and over and it doesn't get easier. Your kids will understand soon. Mine are almost 10 and 8 and I think at least the 10 gets it and really empathises which makes you feel good in a way. Hang in there, we are all with you.

BBQ:I do not have anything to add except that I empathize. Been there, done that, got the 18-year old who missed out on a lot to prove it. At least now this time BabyNL won't.MNL_____________ www.leapallergy.com

{{{{BQ}}}}Guess I'm lucky in the fact that I didn't have IBS when Dan was a kid. The bad thing that happened to me/him was my depression and drinking. I went thru bouts of "sane" mommy and then "insane" mommy. Also spent 6 weeks in the hosp drying out. He was 6 at the time & I left it to his dad to explain.BQ - let's coffee klatch! My schedule is weird now w/ school, but you know when I'm on-line.

It's funny my kids seemed to be more understanding than most adults when I was sick. Sure they wished I was well and were dissapointed when I had to cancel things or rush home but they just seemed to accept the fact that mommy was sick and she couldn't help it . I think they were more worried than dissapointed . As they got older they accepted the fact that Mom got sick alot after eating. One time my daughter said "You aren't very spontaneous". I said 'no kidding! I wish I could be".Last year she had food poisoning and called me and said "Mom I was so sick and I was in the bathroom all weekend and all I could think of was you" .Hmmmm. Well I guess that gave her a little insight as to what I go through. Anyway when all is said and done I think we feel alot worse than our kids do about our being sick all the time. They seem to know that we would rather be spending time with them than sitting on the toilet.I know how hard it is to be a parent with IBS but somehow we make it through . Hang in there, your kids will love you anyway.
