Hey guys

Ive recently had FMT treatment at the centre for digestive diseases in sydney for IBS ( diarrhoea mostly ) and for flushing type rosacea , chronic fatigue & food allergies

It was 10 days of infusions with the first one being put through with a colonscopy. Before the fmt i was on Rifaximin for around 2 -3 months.

The treatment cost around $7500

It went from the 23rd of november to the 4th of december.

I held in most of the infusions for 24 hours +

Right now most of stools are normal , like NORMAL .. Its amazing.

Im going around once or twice a day.

I do have a lot of food allergies and have been eating normally ''problematic" foods for me and are still having normal stools. Had mcdonalds 4 times and my bowel movements and id normally be on the toilet for hours afterwards but instead they were perfect but i DO NOT recommend eating like this at all because i was still bloated and feeling pretty ###### after . My fatigue is a lot better too, getting out of bed does is not such a hard thing to do anymore.

It has improved my flushing plus redness a lot but it is still here, Hopefully my rosacea will be cured after i take out gluten, dairy and grains for good.

The nurses there told me that there is a battle going on in my gut between the bad and the good and it will take some time for the new flora to settle in.

Im currently looking in to sauerkraut to help the process along.

I will update this thread quite a lot, and answer any questions some body might have

Things are looking up for once

How did you do with the Rifaxamin for so long? What were your symptoms/bowel movements like taking that? What dose did you use?
Rifaximin seemed to help me a lot, my stools were formed. A lot less abdominal pain, my symptoms were just all round better on it, except for the bloating ( i think this is because of food allergies )

Then out of no where it seemed to stopped helping so i was told to up my dose to 3 capsules a day and everything went normal again. I was scared for being on it for such a long time but nurses at the centre told me it was to suppress all the bad bugs so fmt could take over and the good bacteria would have a better chance of settling in and winning the battle against the bad

The capsules were 500mg

Had some blueberries for breakfast today, ground beef & pumpkin + white potato for lunch, then some goji berries

Had a normal stool today . Having some abdominal pain right now though.

Yesterday i had blueberries for breakfast, a chocolate christmas bunny as a snack ( i react to dairy with facial flushing ) so i will avoid it from now on, then a fruit salad & a corn flake & chocolate biscuit ( i have allergies to corn ) but i was out and there was nothing else to eat. Then 6 dates & an avocado . Had some urgency to go to the toilet, but the stool was formed and pretty normalish.

My diet is all over the place at the moment as i am travelling & pretty busy with school.

I intend to change my diet to mainly vegetables, meats & fruits. As i enjoy this "life style" and feel best on it and i am pretty much allergic to everything else, I have had not had allergy tests done via skin prick since the fmt so i am curious as to see if any of them have gone away or not.

Hi Bob ,

When you were given the antibiotic were you told to do anything else to get the gut motality moving? Were you told to add probiotics, digestive enzymes, HCL and natural anti-inflammatories to the plan. Fermented foods? I have decided if my doctors puts me on the standard antibiotics to kill the overgrowth I would be adding other things along with it to help the good bacteria have a fighting chance of winning. LOL Just curious how educated these doctors out there are about this condition. So far my GI specialist is not. I tested him out with my questions and the tests I wanted and he was taken by surprise but on the positive side he is open to it. I like him and respect that he is open to it and he is running a lot of tests on me and that is more then most have done so for that he gets browine points!

No I was not, i was purely put on this antibiotic to suppress, basically kill my gut flora . So no, no probiotics allowed . I had to go low fibre for 2 months before the fmt . Let me just state that i do not have SIBO, i tested negative for it. and if you do have sibo, you should not take probiotics at the same time as taking rifaximin for the overgrowth. My gastroenterologists knew what they were doing and have studied fmt for years. Normal doctors have done nothing but let me down. Telling me it was all in my head and what not . We grow up knowing that we might draw the short straw in the health lottery. We fear diseases like cancer and a long list of awful chronic illnesses for which there is at least a diagnosis, prognosis, specialist and a treatment plan. However no one prepares you for the triple suffering of undiagnosed invisible illness. Sick. Undiagnosed. Doubted. At a time when you most need support, your relationships crumble as your nearest and dearest choose not to give you the benefit of the doubt . I am glad your GI specialist is running test and trying to help you. I used to take HCL months ago and it really helped me, maybe i should look into it again.

Would you mind describing your symptoms which led you to do the fmt? It would help provide some context as to what the fmt fixed and how it may be able to help others.
IBS, diarrhoea & constipation.

Alternating between the 2. Basically when i wasnt shitting myself, i was clogged up for days.

Bloating

extreme abdominal pain, literally feels like i was being stabbed and someone is twisting the knife around in my stomach ( then again i wouldn't know what that feels like )

Food allergies, High IGE . Constantly breaking out into rashes and hives , can't even shower anymore with hives all over my back & rashes all up my legs

Depression/ thoughts of suicide since the age of 9

and severe facial flushing, after reading many reports of rosacea remission due to treating and fixing the gut i knew i had to get this done. Nothing more i want then for this skin disease to go away.

Ive also down lots of rounds of antibiotics & had a very poor diet as a kid so i thought the fmt was for sure something that i needed

Update : Just call me the perfect stool queen hahaha this is amazing!! IT IS SO GOOD TO JUST HAVE NORMAL STOOLS

Apart from feeling absolutely terrible today, I put it down to the hot weather in Australia right now, I could honestly melt. I passed another good one.

Also i am very very bloated

Had a lot of facial flushing today though, probably the heat though.

I have noticed that i am a bit depressed lately, I find myself being very sad for almost no reason sometimes. Lots of fatigue too.

Had a bit of a reaction to the shower & broke out in hives & rashes. I went out in the sun though and didn't have a reaction, which is such an achievement for me.

What i ate today: Leftover lamb roast with orange vegetables, goji berries, banana & date smoothie, 9 chocolate chip cookies ( i know i know, I have to start eating better & stop eating foods i have allergies to !!!!!! especially for my new bugs but because i was so sad today i couldn't help myself. I have to find something to take my mind off it all )

After 2 days of being constipated ( i put this down to not being able to access food for a day and a bit )

I had 2 normal stools - yesterday

but today i have had 2 lots of watery loose ones

I am not worried, I have recently changed my diet again and taken out all allergens/intolerances and all the crap food i was eating before.

I feel as if i am reacting to fruit so for now after getting a burning uncomfortable painful stomach after eating a fruit salad the other day . I am going to take fruit out of my diet except for berries & some melon and see how i go.

16th - loose stools

17- 2 normal stools

18- Nothing

I am having alot of cramping & abdominal pain lately but i don't know whether or not to contribute that to due to my period, sorry for TMI , i like to keep this forum post of mine as a diary sort of thing to look back on and track my process.

I feel like a lot of my problems stem from Low stomach acid and not being able to break down the foods properly , I am going to try chew my food a lot more. Maybe even add in some HCI
